| From Rocky Mountain News. January, 2003. (U.S.) Live Show Review Lion’s Lair (Denver, CO) . . . Tonight’s opening act is Reno Divorce, a blistering punk combo sculpted from the tire treads of Social Distortion. Although I was here to see (the headlining band), it was Reno Divorce’s tunes that I was humming as I drove home. True, I’m a bit of an SD fan myself, so they struck a chord with me from the first riff (no pun intended). While lead singer Brent Loveday approaches the mic with the same intensity and blue-collar howl that made Mike Ness famous, it’s the energy that sold me. The chemistry the group shares is palpable, providing an ample catalyst to ignite the sour mash-and-psychobilly concoction into a raucous conflagration, a flame fueled by bottom-shelf liquor and domestic brew . . . – Dave Flomberg |
